Bitesize skin cancer awareness sessions during Skin Cancer Awareness Month

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month and as the weather across the UK heats up, Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance is supporting national awareness campaigns by offering free 30-minute online skin cancer awareness sessions during the month.

Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the UK, with 100,000 cases each year and that number continues to rise. Outdoor workers can be exposed to up to 10 times more sun than the average person and as a result they are three times more likely to develop skin cancer.

However with simple precautions such as wearing sunscreen and covering up their skin, this risk can be much lower.

Our bitesize session will include information about:

  1. the signs and symptoms of skin cancer
  2. helping people track symptoms and talk to their GP

These sessions, which will be held virtually, will take place on the following dates:

  1. Wednesday, 7 May at 12pm
  2. Friday, 9 May at 2pm
  3. Tuesday, 13 May at 3pm
  4. Monday, 19 May at 11am
  5. Friday, 23 May at 12.30pm.

The sessions are open to all Cancer Champions and anyone who lives or works in Humber and North Yorkshire. To reserve your place, please visit the Cancer Alliance's Eventbrite page.

Please let us know if you are interested in attending but cannot make these sessions and we will ensure that you are made aware of alternative future sessions.
