Carers Active April – Week 4
22 April 2025, by Suzanne Watson
LiveWell North Lincolnshire is proud to support Carers Active April, launched by Carers UK, which aims to support unpaid carers in the UK to get active and improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
The final week of Carers Active April explores the theme Sport and Leisure Clubs in Your Area.
There are lots of sport and leisure clubs and activities in North Lincolnshire to inspire you to take up some form of activity. Remember there is lots of support available to help carers get active at Carers Active | Carers UK
If you are a carer or a young carer aged 8-18 (or up to 25 with a disability) looking for fun, friendly clubs to join, try North Lincolnshire Active Communities Street Sport Girls Football sessions running on Fridays from 4.30pm.
Alternatively young people living with a disability aged 8-25 can have a go at a variety of sports and fun, active games at Street Sport Scorers on Tuesdays at 5pm.
Both sessions take place at The Pods on Ashby Road, Scunthorpe and are free of charge.
Tee off at a tailored golf session at Normanby Hall Golf Course hosted by Golf in Society on Thursdays 11am – 1pm. Enjoy golf in a supportive, friendly environment with sessions tailored to support carers and people living with conditions including Dementia, Parkinsons, Stroke, loneliness and Depression.
No golf experience is necessary.
Book a taster session by contacting Josh on 07799880344 or email info@golfinsociety.com
There’s still time for carers to get 50% off an NL Active concession card this April to enjoy discounted racket sports, swimming and gym sessions at all NL Active leisure centres.
Carers, family members and friends aged 66 or over can get fit for free in NL Active facilities with two months' access to the gym, swimming and virtual fitness classes. Find further information on NL Active’s fit for free page.
To help keep your health in check, if you are aged 40+ (or under 40 with a family history of hypertension), get your blood pressure checked for FREE at the Carers Support Centre, Redcombe Lane, Brigg, on the following dates:
- 24 April 4pm – 6pm
