Carers Active April – Week 3

LiveWell North Lincolnshire is proud to support Carers Active April, launched by Carers UK, aims to support unpaid carers in the UK to get active and improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

This week’s theme for Carers Active April is Movement and Mental Wellbeing. See below the activities that carers, family members and friends can take part in over the next week...and beyond!

  1. Just a few minutes of movement per day make a big difference to your wellbeing. Join the North Lincolnshire Community Wellbeing Fun and Flex sessions for some gentle, light exercise followed by a chat and refreshments in a friendly, welcoming group setting. See LiveWell for session details.• If you are a carer who is new to exercise, begin slowly and increase the pace gradually at a speed that is comfortable for you. Visit LiveWell’s Be Active button to check out the wide range of fitness classes including Yoga, Pilates and even Tai Chi at Carers Support Centre.
  2. Have you ever tried Kurling? Kurling is a fun activity suitable for all ages and abilities. Search LiveWell to find your nearest group, or why not join North Lincolnshire Community Wellbeing Kurling and Cuppa on Wednesday mornings 10.30am - 12pm at Winterton at Sir John Mason House.
  3. If you are a carer and pensioner aged 66 and above, join NL Active’s latest fitness initiative and receive two months free, off-peak access to gym, swimming, and Les Mills Virtual fitness classes in NL Active leisure facilities across North Lincolnshire.   4. Young carers will be joining North Lincolnshire Healthy Lifestyle team for a Cook and Eat session to learn how to make healthy curries. If there are any young carers keen to join a future cooking session please email youngcarers@northlincs.gov.uk or call 01724 297502.
